The Coalition for Responsible Healthcare provides a forum for citizens of the Roanoke Valley to examine the effect of the Carilion Clinic on their healthcare choices. The Coalition encourages personal choice of healthcare providers across Southwest Virginia and demands accountability on the part of Carilion administration for its exclusionary anticompetitive behavior.
OPEN REFERRALS
The Coalition for Responsible Healthcare encourages open referrals and personal choice in healthcare providers. Referrals for consultation and testing outside of the Carilion Clinic are called “leakage” and your physician may be pressured (financially and otherwise) to limit his or her “leakage”. You feel pressured to be referred to a Carilion Clinic physician for consultation;

You feel you have been referred for testing and consultation within the Carilion Clinic due to your physician feeling pressured to do so; or

You are not informed of other alternatives for consultation or testing.
PRICING
The Coalition for Responsible Healthcare encourages fair pricing amongst healthcare providers. If you have information on the Carilion Clinic charging higher fees than other providers in Southwest Virginia, please e-mail us at pricing@responsiblehealthcare.org.
ANTICOMPETITIVE BEHAVIOR
The Coalition for Responsible Healthcare encourages competitive pricing and fair negotiations amongst healthcare providers. If you have information on the Carilion Clinic’s ability to demand monopoly prices from insurers, please e-mail us at anticompetetive@responsiblehealthcare.org.
MEDICAL RECORDS
The Coalition for Responsible Healthcare feels that it is in the best interest of patients for medical records to be shared amongst providers in the most efficient manner possible. If you have been told by a Carilion Clinic physician that they cannot refer you to an independent physician because they may not be able to access your medical records, please e-mail us at medicalrecords@responsiblehealthcare.org
CONSULTATION SCHEDULING
The Coalition for Responsible Healthcare feels that it is in the best interest of patients for the Carilion Clinic consultation scheduling system to allow for consultations to independent physicians. If you have been told by a Carilion Clinic physician that they cannot refer you to an independent physician for consultation because the independent physicians are not included in the Carilion scheduling system, please e-mail us at consultations@responsiblehealthcare.org.
COLLECTIONS ACTIVITIES
The Coalition for Responsible Healthcare feels that as a not-for-profit company, the Carilion Clinic should not seek judicial remedies against the uninsured citizens of Roanoke.
